For over 38 years, Robert Prater has called East Orlando home, dedicating his career to helping the future of our community through public education. As a seasoned educator, community leader, and devoted family man, Robert is running for the Florida House of Representatives to bring practical, real-world solutions to the state legislature.

Leadership and Standing up for Teachers Rights
Robert is a proud graduate of Nova Southeastern University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
With 21 years of experience in public education, he has served in a variety of roles, including first- and second-grade teacher, Dean of Students, and member of the leadership teams at Oak Hill Elementary and Corner Lake Middle School.​​​
Having worked within Florida’s public school system for more than two decades, Robert understands the challenges facing our schools from every aspect — in the classroom, in school leadership, and at the district policy level. His experience gives him a balanced, real-world perspective on what educators, students, and families truly need to succeed.
Beyond his professional roles, Robert has been a consistent advocate for teacher's rights, working to ensure that those on the front lines of education have a voice in decision-making. He believes strong schools are built through transparency, accountability, and collaboration, and he remains committed to policies that support educators while putting students first.

A Bipartisan Community Leader
Robert believes that friendship and progress should transcend party lines. He maintains strong relationships with colleagues across the political spectrum and believes in working bipartisanship to meet the needs of the district. He has a long history of service, including volunteering on the Board of Directors at Union Park Little League.
Personal Life and Resilience
Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Robert’s first job was with FedEx, where he learned the value of hard work over three years before pursuing his passion for education. He is a man of deep faith,identifying as Christian, and cites the Bible as his favorite book for its message that "the truth will set you free".
Robert is married to his wife, Donna Linares. He is a man of resilience who understands personal struggle, having persevered through the heartbreaking loss of two children. This experience has shaped his desire to leave a legacy as someone who genuinely cares about our children and our future.
