A Family Man.
A Proven Leader.
A Proud Educator.
I am Robert Prater, a devoted dad, proud grandfather, passionate teacher, and true community leader who’s called Orlando home for over 30 years.
I graduated from Nova Southeastern University with my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and have spent more than 25 years, including 21 in Florida’s public schools, pouring my heart into our kids’ futures. I’ve taught first and second grade, served as Dean of Students, and helped lead teams at Oak Hill Elementary and Corner Lake Middle School.
From the classroom to leadership roles and district committees, I’ve seen firsthand the real challenges our schools face and what it truly takes for educators, students, and families to thrive. I’ve advocated tirelessly for teachers’ voices, pushing for transparency, accountability, and collaboration that puts students first.
I’ve also served on key Orange County Public Schools committees, including the Fringe Benefits Committee (Teacher’s Union), Health Insurance Committee, Pharmaceutical Committee (CVS Caremark), and Transportation Committee.
My first job was with FedEx, where I learned the true value of hard work before following my calling into education. I’m a man of deep Christian faith, with the Bible as my favorite book for its powerful message that the truth will set you free. I’m happily married to my wife, Donna Linares, and I’ve known profound personal resilience through the heartbreaking loss of two children. That experience has only deepened my commitment to caring for every child and building a brighter future for our families.
I believe friendship and progress should transcend party lines. I’ve built strong relationships across the political spectrum and always work bipartisanship to meet the real needs of our district. My long history of service includes volunteering on the Board of Directors at Union Park Little League, giving back to the kids and families right here in our community.
As a family man deeply rooted in Central Florida, I’m running for the Florida House to bring that same heartfelt leadership and experience to Tallahassee. Together, we can build stronger schools, support our educators, and create brighter futures for every family in our community.
